Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert has refused to rule out the possibility of a reunion with Wigan Athletic striker Grant Holt.

The pair worked together during Lambert’s three-year stint as manager of Norwich City, with Holt playing an integral role for the side that secured back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.

Lambert departed Carrow Road in June 2012 to take the reins at Villa Park, while Holt left the club in the close-season to sign for Wigan following their relegation from the top flight.

And following Monday’s 2-1 home loss to Arsenal, Villa boss Lambert hinted at a move for the forward.

“There’s things going on at the minute with a few (players),” the Scot told Sky Sports. “We’ll try and get things done.

“I know Grant from my Norwich days and he was brilliant for us. (It is a) couple of years later, we’ll see.”

Holt, 32, has scored twice in 21 appearances for Wigan this season.
