According to Corriere dello Sport, Aston Villa winger Leon Bailey is close to completing a loan move to AS Roma for the season, with the clubs currently negotiating over the final details of the deal which should include an option for the Serie A side to make it permanent next summer. The initial loan fee is expected to amount to €2million, and the permanent transfer in 2026 to €22million.
Regardless of those final details, the deal is considered practically done by all parties and Bailey is now set to travel to Rome to undergo a medical before joining Gian Piero Gasperini’s ranks. Roma decided to move for the 28-year-old Jamaica international after Manchester United outcast Jadon Sancho rejected their approach.
Bailey joined Villa from Bayer Leverkusen four years ago. Since then, he’s made a total of 144 appearances for the Birmingham club, scoring 22 goals and producing 24 assists. His contract at Villa Park has two years left to run.
