Liga de Futbol Profesional Boliviano Wrap: Guabira cruise in opener

Guabira comfortably accounted for Oriente Petrolero 2-0 as the Liga de Futbol Profesional Boliviano got underway on Saturday.

Bolivia international Didi Torrico got Guabira off to the best possible start on 22 minutes before midfield partner Miguel Rios sealed the victory in the 67th minute.

The result placed Guabira on top of the Apertura on equal goal difference with Nacional Potosi, who won 2-0 against Aurora.

First-half goals from Edson Zenteno and Rodrigo Vargas were enough for Nacional to see off Aurora.

Ten-time Bolivian champions The Strongest came from behind to defeat Club Universitario 2-1.

Mauricio Saucedo gave Universitario a shock lead from the spot on 30 minutes before Gaston Mealla levelled the tie just before first -half stoppage time.

The Strongest completed the turnaround in the 72nd minute when Pablo Escobar secured all three points.

Wilstermann withstood a second-half fightback to win 2-1 at home against Real Potosi.

Rodrigo Ramallo and Ignacio Garcia earned a 2-0 lead at the break for Wilstermann before Real Potosi’s Cristian Girard pulled one back midway through the second half.

Esteban Fuertes scored three minutes from time to secure a 1-0 win for Sport Boys over Bolivar while Blooming and San Jose fought out a goalless draw.
