Competition: Europa League
Market: Liverpool to win against FC Sion
Odds: 8/13 @ Ladbrokes

Liverpool host Swiss Super League side FC Sion on Thursday night in the Europa League, and the Reds are big favourites to come out on top at Anfield. Brendan Rodgers’ men finally ended their winless run in the Premier League, and are coming off the back of victory in their own backyard to boast some momentum ahead of their clash against the Europa League group leaders.

Liverpool have been inconsistent this season, and in Europe they have already dropped points in the form of a 1-1 draw against Bordeaux. The Merseysiders could go top of the pack with a win against Sion this week, but it won’t be easy given their swings in form. Liverpool’s recent win against Aston Villa was their first victory in five Premier League games, but once again their defensive record took a battering. The Reds have conceded in each of their last six games in all competitions, so Sion will have confidence of getting among the goals.

The Swiss visitors haven’t been in the best form in recent weeks, with the away side losing back-to-back in the Super League, while having dropped points in all but one of their away games in the top flight. As a result of their travel-sickness, Liverpool should be looking to take advantage this week to boost their own chances of qualification into the next round. Away from home, Sion have suffered two defeats and two draws from five games, and consecutive away games in the Europa League could see them sliding down the group.
