Rumours have appeared recently about Liverpool being willing to sanction the sale of Florian Wirtz to Real Madrid after the Germany international’s first season at Anfield, as he struggles to adapt to the physicality of the Premier League. Outlets in Spain have even gone as far as to suggest that the player himself was pushing for a deal to happen.
However, Teamtalk claim their sources inside the club are adamant that Wirtz won’t be going anywhere. Having broken the Premier League transfer record to sign the 22-year-old, Liverpool see Wirtz as a key player for years to come. They consider him “untouchable” for the near future, and are in full command of any decision on that front, given that there are four more years left on his contract and no release clause.
It may have taken a while for Wirtz to score his first goal in the English top flight (it came in late December and ended as his only league goal for the club in 2025), but his chance-creating abilities have always been there for everyone to see, and the attacking midfielder now has six goals and eight assists in 37 matches across all competitions this season.
