Lukaku set for loan move

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku looks set for a loan move after his agent said talks with directors had been successful.

The 18-year-old striker has rarely featured for the Blues since his 18 million pounds move from Anderlecht last summer, and could only make the bench for Belgium’s draw with Greece on Wednesday.

Agent Christophe Henrotay sought talks with Chelsea after Belgium coach Georges Leekens warned Lukaku to find another club or risk losing his place in the national side.

Henrotay told The Daily Mail: “It is clear that, if Romelu’s situation stays the same, we have to search for a solution.”

“Chelsea want to loan him to another Premier League team, preferably one in London, so they can follow his evolution.”

Bolton and Everton are both reportedly interested in signing the out-of-favour striker, but Henrotay’s statement indicates that a move to Fulham or QPR is a more likely outcome.

Speaking after Belgium’s game on Wednesday, Lukaku said: “I will head back to Chelsea with the advice of Leekens in my mind.”

“We had a long talk, and his words made me think. He told me I have to play if I want to be selected for the national team in the future.”

“I want to be the number one striker for Belgium, but the problem is, the others are playing for their club sides, while I am not.”

“Something has to change. I’ve progressed as a player since I arrived at Chelsea, because I am training with the best players in the world. But I miss the atmosphere in the stadium and the support of the public.”
