Lyon star drops Premier League hint; Catania reveal Maxi Lopez not joining Milan

Lyon star drops Premier League hint

Lyon full-back Aly Cissokho admits he is looking to leave the French giants in the January transfer window.

The 24-year-old has been unsettled at Gerland for quite a while now and he was heavily linked with a move to Liverpool in the summer.

He eventually remained with les Gones, but Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas recently revealed that the Frenchman was likely to leave the club in January.

The player himself has now moved to confirm those reports, citing England as his preferred destination.

“I spent the break calmly and enjoyed the holidays,” Cissokho told L’Equipe.

“This week, I will speak with the OL staff. I reckon I prefer England, but for now, there is nothing done.”

After signing Jose Enrique, Liverpool are no longer interested in the 24-year-old, but Newcastle are reportedly keen on the highly rated defender.

Catania reveal Maxi Lopez not joining Milan

Catania chairman Antonino Pulvirenti has revealed that star striker Maxi Lopez will not be joining Milan.

The Argentine striker is widely tipped to leave Massimino in January and the Rossoneri have been showing interest in his services.

However, after the Serie A champions failed to make any concrete moves, Catania are now ready to negotiate to other interested clubs.

“With AC Milan, it’s over,” Catania president Antonino Pulvirenti told Sky Sport 24. “There was a maximum time and nothing has been done.

“During the transfer window, you can never say never, but we now consider ourselves free to deal with other clubs.”

Pulvirenti reveals that Maxi Lopez is unlikely to join another Serie A side.

“The most realistic possibility for Max is to go abroad or to stay at home.”

The Argentine has one and a half year left on his deal with Catania, but he is not expected to sign a new deal at Massimino.

Tottenham prepare Samba swoop

Tottenham are set to bid for Blackburn defender Christopher Samba, The Mirror understands.

The Rovers star was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal in the summer, but Wenger instead opted for Per Mertesacker.

The 27-year-old could end up in North London after all, as Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has expressed interest in his services.

The Spurs gaffer wants to add at least one more player to his injury-plagued defence in January and he believes Samba would be a perfect fit at the Lane.

Blackburn owners may be forced to sell their star player in order to balance the books and Redknapp is looking to take advantage of the situation.

The player himself is likely to jump at the opportunity to join one of the title contenders, with £8 million bid expected to do the job.
