Lyon starlet on Newcastle radar; European giants battle for Vietto

hot-transfer-newsLyon starlet on Newcastle radar

Newcastle and Stuttgart are keeping close tabs on Lyon midfielder Gueida Fofana, according to L’Equipe.

The same source has suggested that the two sides had the player scouted on numerous occasions this season with a view of making their interest concrete in January.

Given that his contract is due to expire in June 2015, it is believed Lyon are prepared to listen to offers, especially considering their precarious financial situation.

Nevertheless, it appears that the 22-year-old has no plans to leave les Gones in the near future, but is rather hoping to sign a new deal at Stade Gerland.

Gueida Fofana joined Lyon in the summer of 2011 from Le Havre and has since featured in 62 Ligue 1 matches, scoring 2 goals.

He has finally nailed down a regular starting berth this season, having made 16 league starts for the French giants.

European giants battle for Vietto

Portuguese newspaper A Bola has learned that a host of Europe’s top clubs are showing interest in Racing Club forward Luciano Vietto.

The 20-year-old has seen his stock rise a great deal over the last year and a half, and he is widely regarded as one of Argentina’s hottest prospects.

According to A Bola, the youngster has a long list of admirers that include Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City, Juventus and Atletico Madrid, among others.

Los Colchoneros were the only side to submit an official proposal for the player’s services, but their €8 million bid was swiftly rejected as Racing Club are holding out for double that amount.

The interesting thing is that current Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone was the coach to hand Vietto his senior debut having been at the helm of Racing between June 2011 and December 2011.

After scoring 13 league goals last term, the forward has netted just 2 times in 18 league appearances this season, but he has, nonetheless, kept his place in the starting line-up.

Lille join chase for Corchia

Lille are the latest high-profile side to have joined the race for Sochaux full-back Sebastien Corchia, reports L’Equipe.

The 23-year-old has been widely tipped to leave struggling les Lionceaux in the winter transfer window, but it appears he will be staying in France after all.

And while Marseille and Lyon have already confirmed their interest in the player, L’Equipe understands that Lille are keen as well.

With Franck Beria picking up a shoulder injury, les Dogues are in the market for a new right-sided defender and they are set to make a move on the Sochaux starlet.

Sebastian Corchia has developed into one of league’s top right-backs and has so far 83 Ligue 1 appearances for les Lionceaux having joined from Le Mans.

His suitors Lille host Reims on Sunday and they are priced at 4/9 to claim maximum points and put extra pressure on their title rivals.
