Manchester City have held talks with former Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca, according to Football Insider. There is a chance that Pep Guardiola could leave as the Man City manager at the end of the season, and the Cityzens have been in contact with Maresca, who left his role as the Chelsea boss on New Year’s Day.
Journalist Pete O’Rourke said: “Yeah, it does seem to be a bit of a growing feeling that Guardiola could leave at the end of the season.
“A lot of rumours going around now that Guardiola could leave City this summer.
“Man City will be looking for an elite manager to replace an elite manager.
“Maresca, one of the reasons that he left Chelsea was that he had spoken to Chelsea and told them that he had been speaking to City figures about replacing Guardiola.
“He worked under Guardiola as his assistant at the Etihad. So he would tick a lot of boxes. It’s one that’s probably going to rumble on till the end of the season.
“It’s a very attractive job and Guardiola will be a tough act to follow considering the success he has enjoyed at the Etihad Stadium.”
