Marcelo Bielsa tipped to replace Villas-Boas

Athletic Bilbao boss Marcelo Bielsa is the number one favourite to replace Andre Villas-Boas at Stamford Bridge, The Mirror understands.

The Chelsea chiefs are starting to lose patience with the Portuguese manager and the former Porto boss could be sacked before the season is over.

Roman Abramovich wanted Guus Hiddink to return to Stamford Bridge, but after the Dutch tactician accepted an offer from Anzhi, the Russian billionaire is forced to search for other solutions.

According to The Mirror, Abramovich believes Athletic Bilbao coach Marcelo Bielsa would be a perfect choice.

The Argentine manager is much more experienced than Villas-Boas and his hands-on approach has won him a lot of admirers in world football.

Bielsa is enjoying a great season with Athletic, with los Leones sitting in 4th place in La Liga at the moment.

The Basque side are set to face Barcelona in Copa del Rey final, whereas they are still in the race for Europa League title.
