As we inch towards the halfway point of the January transfer window, Premier League clubs from up and down the country are desperate to get some essential business done over the final few weeks.

While runaway leaders Arsenal might be looking to strengthen their charge in the race to claim a first domestic crown since way back in 2004, the likes of West Ham are scrambling to bring in some essential reinforcements.

Likewise, with the 2026 World Cup fast approaching on the horizon, many of England’s biggest superstars are looking to shore up their spot in Thomas Tuchel’s squad to North America.

With a number of spots still reportedly up for grabs, it has been suggested that a number of fringe English aces are looking to complete a January return to the Premier League.

Ivan Toney – Al-Ahli

Completing what was a controversial Saudi Arabian switch in the summer of 2024 as he agreed on a bank-breaking move to Middle Eastern giants Al-Ahli, many believed that Ivan Toney had accepted an early end to his England career.

However, continuing to bang in the goals over in Saudi, it has been suggested that many Premier League clubs are keen on bringing the former Brentford skipper back to England this month.

Although the 29-year-old might be earning a reported weekly salary of £400,000, it has been suggested that Toney is open to a speedy Premier League return and is keen on clinching a place in Tuchel’s World Cup squad.

Alongside speculation over a potential move to Everton, it has been speculated that under pressure Tottenham boss Thomas Frank is dreaming on a reunion with his former striking superstar.

With fellow England international Dominic Solanke drastically failing to find his feet in north London and dealing with a long-term ankle issue, Sky Sports reported in November that Tottenham have already held initial talks with Toney’s entourage.

Tammy Abraham – Besiktas

While history might be littered with English superstars who have failed to find their feet after completing heavyweight European switches, Tammy Abraham has certainly impressed during his time on the continent.

Although the one-time Chelsea youngster might have only arrived at Turkish outfit Besiktas over the summer, Abraham has recorded 11 goals across all competitions and has been linked with a potential shock England return.

Not earning a senior international cap for the Three Lions since way back in June 2022, the 28-year-old is reportedly open to a Premier League return after leaving Chelsea for Italian giants Roma four years ago.

Enjoying a sensational season-long loan switch at Villa Park during the 2018/2019 campaign as he notched 26 Championship goals, Unai Emery is keen on bringing the 11-cap international back to the Midlands this month.

With the former PSG boss reportedly making a specialist number nine his number one priority over the next few weeks, The Telegraph are reporting that Emery has identified Abraham is a perfect candidate.

Conor Gallagher – Atletico Madrid

Alongside Villa’s reported interest in bringing Abraham back to the Midlands this month, the Besiktas marksman is not the only English international who is attracting interest from the Villa Park hierarchy.

With it suggested that Conor Gallagher is keen on a speedy Premier League return this month, The Times reported on Monday that Villa have already opened discussions with Atletico Madrid over a potential deal.

While Gallagher might have played a regular part in Diego Simoene’s plans since arriving in the Spanish capital back in August 2024, the 25-year-old has failed to hold down a regular spot from the start.

With it reported over the past week that Atletico could be willing to cash in on the former Chelsea star before the January transfer window slams shut, Gallagher certainly isn’t short of suitors.

Although reports over the past week might have suggested that Tottenham are keeping a close eye on Gallagher’s situation, it has been suggested that Villa are sat firmly in the driving seat.
