Real Betis coach Pepe Mel ruled out a move for striker Pablo Daniel Osvaldo, claiming the La Liga outfit cannot afford the Italy international.

Osvaldo, who spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Inter and Boca Juniors, is available on a free transfer after being released by Southampton last month.

Betis have been linked with Osvaldo but Mel insisted the 29-year-old will not be arriving in Seville.

“There’s no chance he’s coming, why beat about the bush. I know that he was willing to make an effort to sign for Betis, but even then it’s not doable for us,” Mel was quoted as saying by AS.

“With Osvaldo we can’t allow ourselves to spend everything on one player, because then the other issues won’t be fixed.

“Common sense tells you the money needs to be spread out across all the positions where it’s needed.”
