Moyes wary of Blackpool upset

Everton manager David Moyes believes Blackpool have the ability to pull off an upset against his side on Saturday in the FA Cup.

Blackpool were relegated from the Premier League in their first and only season last year and many of the players who were part of that team remain at Bloomfield Road.

The fifth-round match will take place at Goodison Park, where the Toffees have beaten Manchester City and Chelsea in the past month, but Moyes has warned his squad to be wary of the Championship club.

Moyes told reporters on Friday: “We are on a decent run and we have to try to keep it going if we can, but it is going to be tough against Blackpool.”

“They are a good side, doing really well in the Championship and on the verge maybe of getting back (to the Premier League) through the automatic positions or at worst, through the play-offs as they did last time.”

“They generated a great wave of support throughout the country last year when they were in the Premier League and they just didn’t quite make it.”

“In the first six months (since then) they have had to make a few changes but they have quietly gone about their business and I think overall they have come back and done well.”

Everton defeated Tamworth and Fulham at home to reach this stage of the FA Cup, while Blackpool overcame Fleetwood Town then Sheffield Wednesday in a fourth-round replay.
