Newcastle United and AC Milan are progressing in talks over a summer deal for Malick Thiaw, according to Fabrizio Romano.
“The well-known and well-respected journalist has claimed that the Premier League club and the Serie A outfit are in the final stages of discussions over the 23-year-old Germany international central defender.
Romano wrote on X: “Negotiations advancing fast for Malick Thiaw to Newcastle after new bid close to €40m package, as revealed.
“AC Milan and #NUFC at final stages of talks after the improved proposal and green light from Malick.
“Here we go could follow soon if all goes to plans.”
Thiaw has been at AC Milan since 2022, when he made the move to the Serie A club after leaving German club Schalke.
The 23-year-old has gone on to establish himself as one of the better young centre-backs in Serie A and won the Supercoppa Italiana with the Rossoneri in the 2024/25 campaign.
