According to multiple sources, Trabzonspor have reached an agreement with Manchester United over the loan signing of Andre Onana, and the Cameroonian goalkeeper is set to travel to Turkey in the coming days to undergo the medical ahead of the move.
Onana joined United from Inter Milan in 2023 for around €50million, and it was generally believed his ball distribution qualities were the greatest factor in the 20-time English champions’ decision to pay that money for his services. However, Onana has done next to nothing to justify the faith put in him, described by some as “the worst goalkeeper ever” to wear a Manchester United shirt.
To cap it all off, he reportedly came to the Carrington training ground this summer demanding a new contract and an increase in salary. While the self-confidence shown thereby is admirable, it was always going to end with the club choosing to go in another direction.
After several weeks of links with Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez, United eventually signed Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp. With Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton also in Ruben Amorim’s squad, there is obviously no room for the 29-year-old Cameroon international anymore.
