Real Madrid defender Pepe says he is ready to play in midfield in Wednesday’s Copa del Rey clash against Barcelona, should Jose Mourinho ask him.

The Portugal international featured as a holding midfielder against the Catalans in the 2010/11 campaign in an attempt to keep Lionel Messi quiet, and the centre-back does not oppose the idea of man-marking the Argentine again.

“Whether I’ll play in midfield again? The coach will know what to do against Barcelona,” Pepe told AS. “I’m always available to help Madrid.”

“Everyone knows what my qualities are and what I can do for the team. The coach is the one who makes the decisions though.”
