Norwich City’s Anthony Pilkington was delighted to net the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Manchester United on Saturday.
Former United trainee Pilkington missed two gilt-edged chances as Norwich fell to defeat at Old Trafford last season, and believes he can now put those worries to rest.
“It’s good to put those demons away,” Pilkington told reporters.
“I could have scored a couple at Old Trafford (last season) but I think I’ve redeemed myself tonight.
“We’re keeping clean sheets against massive teams. It’s great to be here at the moment.
“You can’t beat playing in the Premier League. Last year we didn’t get any big wins and this year we have three already (against Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United).
“We always knew we could pick up points and that’s what we’re starting to do.”
Pilkington confirmed the win over United was significant for Norwich, as they continue to recover from a poor start to the season.
“Whenever you play against Man United, no matter who you are, you’re always going to feel up for it,” he said.
“It’s three points at the end of the day just like it’s three against any other team. But it’s one for the fans to enjoy.
“We had a few games where we had a shaky performance but today we showed everyone what we can do.
“We always knew we could win games in this league just like we did last season. The boys just needed to start believing in themselves to start beating teams like this and that’s what we’ve done, and now we’re unbeaten in six.”
