Claudio Pizarro said the current Bayern Munich team is the best in the club’s history, and is hoping to triumph in all competitions this season.

Bayern dominated the game in the 1970s as they won three European Cups in succession from 1974 until 1976, but the Peruvian attacker believes the current squad might be even stronger.

“Is the best Bayern ever? I believe so, yes. I’d say that we had some great teams in 2003 and 2005 as well, but we clearly have a lot of quality now,” he told TZ.

“I already hailed the quality of this team when I joined in the summer. I think that we can win it all this season.”

The experienced striker then went on to add that winning the Champions League is his main objective for the season.

“The Champions League is the most important title for me. I’ve always said that I wanted to win it. That’s also one of the main reasons why I moved to Bayern. You can win trophies here.”

Bayern meet Arsenal in the Champions League round-of-16.
