Looking to secure consecutive Serie A victories this weekend, Lazio will welcome Torino to the Stadio Olimpico on Saturday afternoon.

Lazio

Starting with the hosts, managing to claim what was an essential boost last weekend as they stormed their way to a routine 3-0 victory away at Genoa, Lazio will be desperate to find some much-needed stability. Marking their return from September’s international break with consecutive 1-0 defeats against Sassuolo and arch-rivals Roma, it has been suggested that Maurizio Sarri has found some serious pressure on his shoulders. Opening this weekend’s fixtures sat in the bottom-half of the Serie A standings, the former Chelsea boss has not seen his inconsistent squad register back-to-back domestic wins since the start of February. However, pencilled in as a standout contender on Saturday afternoon, Lazio have mustered 10 points from their last four Serie A showdowns against Torino.

Lazio Team News

Both shown respective late red cards against bitter local rivals Roma on September 21st, the duo of Reda Belahyane and former Arsenal midfielder Matteo Guendouzi will once again miss out through suspension. Dealing with a recent groin issue, midfield talisman Nicolo Rovella remains on the sidelines.

Getting on the scoresheet away at Genoa last weekend and registering a second Serie A strike of the season, ex-New York City marksman Taty Castellanos will lead the line here. Now in his fourth campaign at the Stadio Olimpico, Alessio Romagnoli will start at the heart of Sarri’s defence.

Torino

As for the visitors, while Torino might have marked their return from September’s international break with a shock 1-0 victory away at Roma, it appears that was just a minor boost for the Bulls. Last seen falling to a worrying 2-1 loss at the hands of Parma, Marco Baroni’s side have managed to claim just a single win from their first five Serie A showdowns. Getting the 2025/26 campaign underway with a nightmare 5-0 drumming against defending champions Inter Milan on August 25th, Saturday’s guests have also shown some glaring attacking issues. In fact, Torino have registered just a pair of Serie A strikes so far this season. It should also be noted, despite springing an upset at the Stadio Olimpico a fortnight ago, that is the only away victory that the Bulls have recorded since the start of March.

Torino Team News

All still dealing with respective knee injuries, Torino will be unable to call upon the trio of Perr Schuurs, Saba Sazonov and Cypriot international Zannetos Savva. Likewise, missing out against Parma last weekend, one-time Chelsea youngster Faustino Anjorin remains a doubt.

While Duvan Zapata might have only managed 22 minutes of Serie A action so far this season, the former Atalanta striker could be handed a first start of the new campaign. Completing a permanent switch from Chelsea over the summer, Cesare Casadei will start in the middle of the park.

Lazio vs Torino Key Factors to Consider

    • When Lazio and Torino last met back in March 31st, Saturday’s opponents played out a 1-1 stalemate at the Stadio Olimpico.
    • Lazio have registered 10 points from their previous four Serie A meetings against the Bulls.
    • The Eagles have not registered back-to-back Serie A wins since the start of February.
    • Although Torino might have claimed a shock 1-0 victory against Roma at the Stadio Olimpico on September 14th, that is the only away win that Baroni’s side have recorded since the start of March.
    • Eight of the last nine meetings between Lazio and Torino have finished with under 2.5 goals.

    Conclusion

Claiming what was an empathic 3-0 victory away at Genoa last weekend, Lazio will be desperately seeking a repeat performance here. However, failing to register consecutive Serie A wins since the start of February, Sarri’s side will have plenty of expectations on their shoulders when they return to the Stadio Olimpico. Meeting a Torino squad who have managed to muster just a pair of top-flight strikes since opening up the new campaign, Saturday’s opponents also have a habit of producing cagey affairs when they meet.

Verdict: Both teams to score – No
