Competition: National League

Market: Goal to be scored in both halves

Odds: 1/2 @ BetUS

Seeking an immediate National League response this weekend, York City will welcome Woking to Yorkshire on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, putting in a downbeat display earlier in the week as they slumped to a 3-1 loss away at Gateshead, York know the importance of claiming an immediate National League response here. Opening Saturday’s showdown sat in silver medal position and three points adrift of dethroning Rochdale, Stuart Maynard’s side will certainly be excited to make a return to Yorkshire this weekend. Last seen in front of their own supporters cruising their way to a routine 4-0 romp against Brackley Town, the former Southend boss has seen his squad gain a reputation for their dominance on home soil. Including a 4-1 victory against Halifax last month, Maynard’s men have won all of their previous six consecutive matchups at the York Community Stadium by an aggregate score of 21-5. It should also be highlighted, the Minstermen are unbeaten in all of their last 15 straight appearances in Yorkshire (12 wins, three draws).

As for the visitors, despite enduring a nightmare February blip, Woking over certainly turned a real corner over the past month. Last seen earlier in the week snatching a 1-1 stalemate away at Southend, interim boss Craig Ross should find the mood in his camp at a real high. Claiming a rollercoaster 3-2 victory at home against Aldershot last weekend, the Cardinals have registered 10 points from their previous four National League appearances. Likewise, the Surrey-based outfit are unbeaten in their last seven straight fifth-tier battles – a run that stems back to February 21st. Hitting Brackley Town for four on March 14th, Woking should also be excited by their clinical performances in the final third. Getting March underway with a 3-1 victory against Tamworth, Saturday’s guests have notched 16 goals on their seven-match unbeaten flurry. Despite being pencilled in as a landslide underdog this weekend, Woking will be confident of asking some questions.
