Liverpool and PSV Eindhoven will face each other in the UEFA Champions League this week. The League Stage game between the Premier League club and the Dutch Eredivisie outfit will be held at Anfield and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Wednesday.

Liverpool

Liverpool won the Premier League title in the 2024-25 campaign in what was Arne Slot’s first campaign in charge of the Reds. The Merseyside club spent £450 million on new players in the summer of 2025 and were expected to build on that success.

However, Liverpool have been hugely disappointing so far this season and suffered a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Nottingham Forest at Anfield in the Premier League last weekend. The Reds are 11th in the league table at the moment with 18 points from 12 matches, as many as 11 points behind leaders Arsenal.

Liverpool, though, are doing well in the UEFA Champions League. The defending Premier League champions have picked up nine points from four matches.

Team News:

Liverpool manager Arne Slot is likely to line up in a 4-3-3 formation against PSV Eindhoven. Alisson will be in goal for the home team and will have Dominik Szoboszlai, Ibrahima Konate, Virgil van Dijk and Milos Kerkez in front of him in defence. Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch and Alexis Mac Allister will be the three midfielders. Mohamed Salah, Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo will be deployed in attack.

PSV Eindhoven

PSV Eindhoven are one of the biggest clubs in the Netherlands and regularly feature in Europe’s biggest club competitions, including the UEFA Champions League. Boeren won the Eredivisie title last season and are feature in Europe’s premier club competition this campaign.

Peter Bosz’s side, though, have not been doing well in the UEFA Champions League this season. PSV have picked up just five points from four matches and need to step up their game in Europe.

PSV will head into the UEFA Champions League game against Liverpool at Anfield on the back of a 1-0 defeat to NAC Breda on the road in the Dutch Eredivisie. It came after a 5-1 hammering AZ Alkmaar away from home in the league, which followed a 1-1 draw with Olympiacos in Greece in the UEFA Champions League.

Team News:

PSV Eindhoven are likely to line up in a 4-2-3-1 formation against Liverpool. Matej Kovar will be in goal for the Dutch club and will have Sergino Dest, Jerdy Schouten, Yarek Gasiorowski and Anass Salah-Eddine in front of him in defence. Mauro Junior and Joey Veerman will be the two holding midfielders. Dennis Man, Ismael Saibari and Ivan Perisic will be the three attacking midfielders. Guus Til will lead the line for PSV.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Liverpool have won 5 matches, drawn 1 and and lost 1 against PSV Eindhoven.
  • Liverpool have scored 14 goals and conceded 5 goals against PSV Eindhoven.
  • Liverpool have scored 9 goals in 4 UEFA Champions League games so far this season.
  • PSV Eindhoven have conceded 7 goals in 4 UEFA Champions League games so far this campaign.
  • PSV Eindhoven have scored 9 goals in 4 UEFA Champions League games so far this campaign.

Conclusion

While Liverpool are in bad form in the Premier League this season, the Reds are doing well in the UEFA Champions League and should be able to pick up all three points from the match against PSV Eindhoven with ease.
