Napoli and Cagliari will lock horns with each other in Serie A this weekend. The match between I Partenopei and Rossoblù will be held at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in Naples and is scheduled to kick off at 7:45pm on Saturday.

Napoli

Napoli are one of the biggest clubs in the world and have been hugely successful in recent years. Under former Juventus manager Antonio Conte last season, they won the Serie A title and are aming to do the same this time around.

Gli Azzurri have been very busy in the summer transfer window. Among the players that Napoli have signed are central defender Sam Beukema, Noa Lang, Miguel Gutierrez, Kevin De Bruyne and Lorenzo Lucca.

Napoli will head into the Serie A game against Cagliari at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on the back of a 2-0 win against Sassuolo away from home in Serie A. It came after a 2-1 win against Olympiacos, which followed a 4-0 hammering of Sorrento.

Team News:

Napoli are likely to line up in a 4-1-4-1 formation against Cagliari. Alx Meret will be in goal and will have Giovanni Di Lorenzo, Amir Rrahmani, Juan Jesus and Mathías Olivera in front of him in defence. Stanislav Lobotka will be the player in holding midfield, with Matteo Politano, Frank Anguissa, Kevin De Bruyne and Scott McTominay in front of him in attacking midfield. Lorenzo Lucca will lead the line for Napoli.

Cagliari

Cagliari are a modest club in Italy who are happy to just stay in Serie A. They finished 16th in the league table in the 2023-24 season, and one suspects that the Gli Isolani fans were happy that the team ended up 15th in the standings in the last campaign.

Fabio Pisacane’s side will be more than happy to finish in a similar position in the Serie A table this season. Cagliari have been very active in the summer transfer window and, among the players they have signed, are Roberto Piccoli, Elia Caprile and Michel Adopo.

Cagliari will head into the Serie A game against Napoli this weekend on the back of a 1-1 draw with Fiorentina at home in the league. It came after a win against Virtus Entella on penalties, which followed a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Turkish Super Lig outfit Galatasaray in a pre-season friendly game.

Team News:

Cagliari are likely to line up in a 4-3-1-2 formation against Napoli. Elia Caprile will be in goal for the visiting team and will have Gabriele Zappa, Yerry Mina, Sebastiano Luperto and Adam Obert in front of him in defence. Michel Adopo, Matteo Prati and Alessandro Deiola will be the three holding midfielders. Sebastiano Esposito will be the playmaker-in-chief and will have Gennaro Borrelli and Michael Folorunsho in front of him as the two centre-forwards.

Key Factors to Consider

  • Against Sassuolo, Napoli had 62.2% of the possession.
  • Against Sassuolo, Napoli took 13 shots, of which 7 were on target.
  • Against Sassuolo, Napoli committed 17 shots.
  • Against Fiorentina, Cagliari had 45.2% of the possession.
  • Against Fiorentina, Cagliari took 14 shots, of which 6 were on target.

Conclusion

Napoli are the defending Italian champions and have one of the strongest squads in Serie A. It is hard to see anything but a comfortable win for Antonio Conte’s side in this particular league game.

Prediction: Napoli to win 3-0

Best Odds: 6/1
