Getafe will aim to maintain their encouraging start to the season when they travel to El Sadar on Friday evening to face Osasuna.
The visitors currently occupy eighth place in the La Liga table with 11 points from seven matches, while the hosts sit 13th, having collected seven points over the same number of fixtures.
Osasuna
Osasuna have managed two wins, one draw and four defeats so far, with their tally of seven points leaving them in the lower half of the standings.
Alessio Lisci’s men began reasonably well with victories over Valencia and Rayo Vallecano, but recent weeks have been less rewarding, with just one point taken from their last three outings – a draw against Elche sandwiched between defeats to Villarreal and Real Betis.
Ninth place last season saw them narrowly miss out on European qualification, and the target this year will be to push back into that bracket. However, finding the net has proved troublesome, with only five goals scored in seven matches. At the same time, their defensive record remains steady, with just seven conceded.
History is also against them heading into Friday’s fixture: Osasuna have won only 12 of their 44 meetings with Getafe and suffered a 2-1 defeat in this fixture last season.
Team News
Aimar Oroz remains sidelined with a foot injury, but Lisci otherwise has a strong squad to choose from.
Veteran striker Ante Budimir, with two goals already this season, will again spearhead the attack, supported by Victor Munoz and Moi Gomez. The back line should again feature Juan Cruz and Valentin Roiser, with few changes expected from the starting XI.
Getafe
Getafe have enjoyed the better of this matchup in recent years, losing just once in their last 12 meetings with Osasuna, and their solid start to the campaign has put them in eighth place.
After a 13th-place finish last term, Jose Bordalas will be confident his side can climb higher this year, especially after collecting nine points from their opening four games – including wins against Celta Vigo, Sevilla and Real Oviedo.
Since then, however, form has dipped, with heavy 3-0 losses to Valencia and Barcelona followed by successive 1-1 draws with Alaves and Levante. As a result, the capital club will be eager to end a four-game winless run when they take to the field in Pamplona.
Team News
Juanmi remains doubtful due to a knee injury, but otherwise Bordalas has a full squad at his disposal.
Adrian Liso, who has netted three times in five appearances, is expected to return to the side after missing two games. Borja Mayoral should also line up in attack, with playmaker Luis Milla pulling the strings in midfield after providing four assists in seven matches.
Conclusion
Only one of the last six La Liga clashes between these two sides has ended level, but Friday’s contest could well be more even.
With Osasuna struggling for goals and Getafe seeking to halt a winless streak, a draw might be the likeliest outcome – and one that neither manager would be too displeased with.
