Prediction: Paris Saint-Germain to win 3-0
Best Odds: 8/1
Paris Saint-Germain and Atalanta will lock horns with each other in the League Phase of the UEFA Champions League this week. The match between the Ligue 1 club and the Serie A outfit will be held at Parc des Princes and is scheduled to kick off at 8pm UK time on Wednesday.
Paris Saint-Germain
Paris Saint-Germain are one of the biggest clubs in the world and were hugely successful last season. Not only did PSG win the Ligue 1 title yet again, but under manager Luis Enrique, they also became the champions of Europe for the first time in history.
Luis Enrique’s side hammered Serie A club Inter Milan 5-0 in the final of the UEFA Champions League last season. PSG also reached the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup in the summer, but the Parisian outfit went down 3-0 to Chelsea.
PSG have made a strong start to the new season, winning all four of their Ligue 1 games so far. PSG will head into the UEFA Champions League match against Atalanta on the back of a 2-0 win against Lens at home in the league. Just before the two-week international break, PSG hammered Toulouse 6-3 away from home in Ligue 1.
Team News:
Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to be able to call upon Khvicha Kvaratskhelia for the UEFA Champions League game against Atalanta. The Georgia international winger suffered an injury against RC Lens in Ligue 1 this past weekend and limped off in the first half. Ousmane Dembele and Desire Doue are out of action as well for PSG. The French giants are likely to line up in a 4-3-4 formation, with Lucas Chevalier in goal and Achraf Hakimi, Illia Zabarnyi, Lucas Beraldo and Lucas Hernandez the four defenders in front of him. Warren Zaïre-Emery, Vintinha and Lee Kang-in will be the three midfielders. Ibrahim Mbaye, Goncalo Ramos and Bradley Barcola will be the three forwards.
Atalanta
Atalanta have done extremely well in recent seasons under head coach Gian Piero Gasperini. They have become regulars in the Serie A top four and have frequently played in the UEFA Champions League.
La Dea ended up third in the Serie A table last season, but they have entered a new era now under Ivan Juric. Atalanta will play in the UEFA Champions League this season, and it will be interesting to see how the Italian club do.
Atalanta’s start to the new season has been mixed. They have picked up just five points from three matches and are a point behind fourth-placed Cremonese and four points behind Napoli and Juventus, who are first and second respectively in the standings.
Team News:
Atalanta manager Ivan Juric has already said that Ademola Lookman is unlikely to be part of the squad for the UEFA Champions League game this weekend. Marco Carnesecchi will be in goal for the Serie A club and will have Odilon Kossounou, Isak Hien and Giorgio Scalvini in front of him defence. Raoul Bellanova, Marten de Roon, Mario Pasalic and Nicola Zalewski will be the four midfielders. Charles De Ketelaere and Kamaldeen Sulemana will be the two attacking midfielders. Nikola Krstovic will lead the line for Atalanta.
