Previewing Saturday’s English Premier League fixtures: Part II

Harry Redknapp

Part II of previewing Saturday’s English Premier League fixtures will feature betting odds, match previews and predictions for Sunderland v Liverpool, Wolverhampton Wanderers v Blackburn Rovers and Everton v Tottenham Hotspur.

Without wasting any more time, let’s get started.

Betting Odds

Sunderland (10/3) v Liverpool (20/19); Draw (12/5)

Wolverhampton Wanderers (7/5) v Blackburn Rovers (11/5); Draw (12/5)

Everton (2/1) v Tottenham Hotspur (13/8); Draw (23/10)

As you will find out again shorty, I fancy the underdogs to notch improbable wins in each of these three fixtures.

Preview: Sunderland v Liverpool

Coming off their first loss at Anfield in the Premier League this season, Liverpool travel to the Stadium of Light to take on Sunderland on Saturday.

Kenny Dalglish’s side have suffered a dip in form of late, tallying only one win in their last five league matches.

Meanwhile, Sunderland have notched an impressive 10 points in their last five home league fixtures, setting up a must-see clash between the Black Cats and the Reds on Saturday.

Players to Watch

With Stephane Sessegnon banned, Sebastian Larsson becomes Sunderland’s main threat.

The Sweden international has been on good form for both club and country in 2011-12, bagging 9 goals and 7 assists in 40 appearances.

For Liverpool, controversial figure Luis Suarez is the player to watch.

Will Suarez finally make the headlines for the right reasons? We shall see.

Prediction

A shocker on the cards? Not really, 1-0 Black Cats.

Preview: Wolverhampton Wanderers v Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn travel to Molineux Stadium to battle Wolves in a fixture with relegation implications on Saturday, March 10 at 15:00.

After starting their 2011-12 league campaign with seven points in three matches, Wolves have managed just 15 points in their last 24 league fixtures.

In retrospect, Blackburn have crawled their way out of the bottom three, albeit just on goal difference.

Players to Watch

Talisman Steven Fletcher, who has netted 10 league goals in 21 appearances this season, is the danger man for Wolves, while Nigeria international Yakubu is the man to keep an eye on for Blackburn.

Prediction

Wolves’ woes continue, 2-1 Rovers.

Preview: Everton v Tottenham Hotspur

Harry Redknapp’s scuffling Tottenham Hotspur side, who are in dire need of three points, travel to Goodison Park to face Everton on Saturday.

Spurs are coming off back-to-back league losses to Arsenal and Manchester United, while the Toffees are unbeaten in their last five league fixtures.

Will Spurs regain their winning form at Goodison Park on Saturday? I wouldn’t bet on it.

Players to Watch

Former Togo international Emmanuel Adebayor is the player to watch for Harry Redknapp’s side, while holding midfielder Marouane Fellaini is the main man for Everton.

Prediction

Everton score against the run of play and then park the bus. 1-0 Toffees.
