Ranieri quashes Eto´o talk

Claudio Ranieri has dismissed reports linking Samuel Eto’o with a return to Inter Milan in a loan deal.

Cameroon striker Eto’o left Inter in a big-money move to Russian Premier League side Anzhi Makhachkala in August.

There have already been rumours suggesting Eto’o could re-join Inter on a temporary basis in January.

But Ranieri, speaking ahead of Inter’s match away to Catania on Saturday, did his best not to add to the speculation.

“I have excellent strikers and I’m very happy with what I have,” Ranieri said.

“Eto’o and I go back a long way … but these things I have read and heard are like fantasy football.”

“As a result, I’m just concentrating on tomorrow’s match.”

Inter head to Catania’s Stadio Angelo Massimino with just one victory from their five Serie A matches this term.

They are already seven points back from leaders Juventus, and Ranieri knows the team cannot afford to drop many more points if they are to compete for the title this season.

“Catania is a difficult place to go and play,” Ranieri said.

“It’s going to be tough.”

“Each match is important and significant and at the moment the match we consider most important is tomorrow’s.”

“We have seen how dangerous Catania can be, even Juventus struggled there and last season Inter had a tough match, but two years ago they actually lost there.”

“We want to win. We are concentrating on picking up points and that’s all. We don’t want to lose touch with the leaders.”
