Redknapp dismisses Hangeland link

Queens Park Rangers manager Harry Redknapp has denied rumours he is attempting to lure Fulham captain Brede Hangeland to Loftus Road.

Norwegian Hangeland is out of contract in the off-season and has been linked with a January move to QPR as they look to stave off the threat of relegation from the English Premier League.

Reports in some media outlets have indicated 31-year-old Hangeland is set to sign a new contract with Fulham, and despite Redknapp talking favourably of the centre-back, he insisted he has made no approach.

“I’m sure Martin Jol will be really pleased to hear that this morning,” Redknapp sarcastically told reporters.

“It’s the first I’ve heard of it. He’s a good player but if I was interested I’d ring Martin or the chairman at Fulham.

“But I’ve made no approach for him. He’s a top player at Fulham so I wouldn’t think he’d be available to sign.”

QPR’s next match is at home to Liverpool on Saturday.
