Lazio boss Edy Reja was happy with his side’s all-round display after they drew 0-0 with Palermo in the Serie A on Sunday.
Reja’s side have only won once this season, but that did not stop the manager singing the praises of his team’s defensive efforts.
Palermo entered the match having scored seven goals in three matches, but were denied by a determined Lazio defence.
“We have closed the opposing team down very well and started counter-attacks well,” Reja said after the match.
“(Andre) Dias has improved and (Mobido) Diakite has done a very good job. In the second half of the match we performed well in midfield and attack.”
“In the first half Palermo worked very hard, closed down all the spaces very well and we had difficulty getting through the middle and out wide.”
“In the second half we created good chances. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to score any goals…the first time that’s happened this season.”
Lazio, who sit 10th, travel to fifth-placed Fiorentina in their next Serie A encounter on Sunday.
