Lazio coach Edy Reja played down his club’s chances of winning the Serie A title despite watching them climb to second place on Sunday.
A 2-0 victory at Bologna saw the Stadio Olimpico side leapfrog Juventus in the league standings.
But speaking to Sky after the game, Reja said that he is not expecting title glory this campaign.
“The Italian league is difficult, and we also started last year very well,” Reja said. “We’ll work, wait for the end of the first half of the season to understand what we can do, but without setting any goals.”
The 66-year-old also praised the resilience his side displayed during the clash at Stadio Renato Dall’Ara.
“Today, there wasn’t one player who played insufficiently. (Senad) Lulic had a great game. (Djibril) Cisse is growing with every performance. From a psychological point of view, he has found the right spirit.”
Lazio host Catania at Stadio Olimpico on Wednesday, knowing that a win could take them top of Serie A if Udinese slip up against Napoli.
