Danny Rohl insisted that his Rangers side “cannot rest” after they beat Annan Athletic 5-0 to reach the last 16 of the Scottish Cup.

Bojan Miovski scored a hat-trick in the victory, with his first two goals coming before the break despite a shaky start at Ibrox for Rangers.

Kieran Dowell quickly added a third shortly after half-time to ease any nerves and Miovski managed to seal his treble from the penalty in the 74th minute.

Thelo Aasgaard’s stunning free-kick wrapped up a routine victory for the hosts, whose home fans were buoyed before kick-off after the unveiling of the surprise loan signing of Andreas Skov Olsen.

Tochi Chukwuani and Tuur Rommens were also introduced to the Rangers faithful ahead of the cup tie as they look to bolster their squad for their Scottish Premiership title push.

Rangers have now won six games in a row in all competitions, and Rohl has urged his players not to take their foot off the gas.

Across interviews with BBC Scotland and Premier Sports, Rohl said: “A clean sheet and five goals is always nice.

“In general, it was a good week for us. Some good results, good signings. All in, it went in the right direction.

“I’m happy to see some players on the pitch again, and academy players. I’m proud of our development. The fans are back, six wins in a row. It’s fantastic. But we cannot rest, we must be on the front foot.

“5-0 is a good result for us. We needed a little bit time. We rotated the players and they weren’t too connected but they got better and better. We controlled. Respect to the opponent, they gave everything.

“This is what we had to do today, not more. It’s about recovering. We have big games ahead of us. All in all, I’m happy.”
