Javier Saviola has spoken of his joy after finding the net in his first appearance for Malaga following his off-season move from Benfica.
Manuel Pellegrini’s men recorded a 3-1 victory over Levante at La Rosaleda on Saturday, with the Argentine scoring one and creating another.
The former Barcelona man had seen his playing time in the Portuguese capital limited, but has vowed to keep on delivering for his new side.
“I hope to continue giving glorious afternoons (to the fans),” he told Marca.
“The standing ovation reminded of me of River Plate. My celebration was for all of the people who have supported me.”
Malaga have gotten over a turbulent off-season to record three wins and a draw from their opening four Liga games, and sit two points behind leaders Barcelona.
