Schwarzer in no rush over Fulham deal

Fulham goalkeeper Mark Schwarzer is not concerned, despite his wait to be offered a new contract at Craven Cottage.

The 40-year-old is out of contract with the Premier League side at the end of the season, but wants to continue his playing career to play in a third consecutive World Cup with Australia in 2014.

Manager Martin Jol had claimed that his number one had been offered a new deal, but Schwarzer revealed that, while talks had begun, there was nothing formal in the works.
“There’s been a discussion but there’s no actual offer on the table at the moment,” Schwarzer told AAP.
“Basically we’re in a position where we’re going to wait until the end of the season and see where we go from there.
“I’m just concentrating on playing football and playing as well as I possibly can and one way or another it will be sorted out.
“I’ve got no concerns about that, whether it’s at Fulham or elsewhere.”
Schwarzer stated that his focus is on the final two league games of the season after a disappointing end to the campaign in which Fulham have lost five of their last six games.
He also said he would keep his options open amid rumours of a return to Australia to play in the A-League.
“Nothing’s been ruled out, to be fair, I’ve not even considered anything yet because it’s all been just about playing the last couple of games of the season and doing my best for Fulham,” he added.
“If I can do that, one way or the other something will come of it.
“It’s been a little disappointing with how we’ve gone over the last few games and we need to make sure we, at the very least, pick up something and make sure we’re mathematically safe.”
