Dundee recorded their first Scottish Premier League win in over three months with a 2-1 victory over St Mirren on Wednesday.

John Brown’s lowly side had been winless in the league since November 17 but boosted their chances of surviving the drop with the come-from-behind win at Dens Park.

John Baird cancelled out Dougie Imrie’s opener before Jim McAlister struck the winner 12 minutes before full-time.

The win, which ended a 14-match winless league run, moves last-placed Dundee within 14 points of second-from-bottom St Mirren with nine matches remaining this season.

Lewis Guy and Conor Newton combined to set up the opener on 20 minutes, with Imrie firing past Rab Douglas to give the visitors the lead.

Dundee largely struggled to test St Mirren goalkeeper Craig Samson before Baird equalised with 12 minutes remaining.

The hosts found a winner through McAlister, who placed his finish past Samson after Gary Harkins and substitute Nicky Riley had combined.
