Rangers thrashed Inverness 4-1 in the Scottish Premier League on Sunday to end a miserable week on a high.

The champions, deducted 10 points after going into administration, cruised to the comfortable win at Caledonian Stadium thanks to goals from Steven Davis, Sone Aluko, Andrew Little and Lee McCulloch.

The win leaves Ally McCoist’s men 20 points adrift of arch-rivals Celtic, who edged Motherwell 1-0 on Saturday.

Rangers only needed six minutes to open the scoring when Davis, who started the attacking move, tapped in a Salim Kerkar cross.

McCoist’s men doubled their advantage after a quarter of an hour, with Aluko firing home having pounced on a poor clearance.

Any hopes of an Inverness comeback were ended when Little netted in the 36th minute, getting on the end of a fine Kerkar pass before sliding his shot past goalkeeper Ryan Esson.

The hosts pulled a goal back before the interval thanks to Steve Williams, who rose highest to power in a Greg Tansey corner.

McCulloch had the easiest of tap-ins to restore his team’s three-goal advantage, and he also hit the crossbar as Rangers eased to an easy win.
