Roma’s poor start to the Serie A season continued on Thursday when they were held to a 1-1 draw at home against newly promoted Siena.
Pablo Osvaldo gave the hosts the lead 25 minutes into the game, taking advantage of some fine play from Marco Borriello to tap-in at the back post.
But Luis Enrique’s side were unconvincing in defence, and they were perhaps fortunate to hold onto their lead until the 88th minute, when Roberto Vitiello slammed home a left-foot shot from the edge of the box.
Roma could have won the game in stoppage time when Osvaldo rose to meet a free-kick from Brazlian substitute Cicinho, but the striker’s header was just wide.
Enrique’s side are now winless from their opening three league games, and have also crashed out of the Europa League after defeat to Slovan Bratislava.
