Simple equation for Reja

Lazio coach Edy Reja insists all his team’s focus will be on beating Sporting Lisbon in the Europa League on Wednesday.

The Serie A club currently sit in third place and level on points with Group D rivals FC Vaslui, who travel to Switzerland to face FC Zurich.

With a better head-to-head record in their favour, the Romanian will knock Lazio out of continental competition with a win over Zurich, yet Reja is more concerned with the fortunes of his side.

“We will play this game at 100 percent of our ability. I hear people say the Portuguese have already qualified and this will make it a lot easier for us. To think this would be the biggest mistake that we could commit,” Reja said.

“In the first game against Sporting, we did not deserve to lose. We created good opportunities but we were unlucky. The two goals we conceded against Vaslui were avoidable too.”

The coach then turned his attentions to the other group game.

“I think it will be a real test in Zurich. In Europe, no one wants to lose. I think that all teams want to do well in the Europa League,” he said.

When Lazio met Sporting in September, the Liga Sagres outfit ran out 2-1 winners, with all three goals coming in the first half.
