PSG’s Salvatore Sirigu feels their 2-0 victory at Dinamo Zagreb was a big step towards qualification for the Champions League knockout stage.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Jeremy Menez scored the goals to sink Zagreb on Wednesday, taking the French team up to second place in Group A with six points.
PSG host the Croatian side at the Parc des Princes in the next round of fixtures, and the Italian international goalkeeper is confident a win at home would all but seal a place in the last 16.
“This is a step towards qualification,” he told RMC Sport.
“The next match (against Zagreb) is very important, perhaps even decisive for giving us the opportunity to pass (through to the knockout stages).
The shot-stopper said that once PSG had scored early on against Zagreb, the match became straightforward for them.
“The game became easy in the second period – we had control and they stopped pressing. It led to the goal, it was easier,” he said.
“The defeat in Porto (made us) realise that we still had a lot of work to do.”
