Slot vows Liverpool will ´fight on´ amid torrid form

Arne Slot has vowed that Liverpool will “fight on” as they look to end their torrid run of form when they face West Ham on Sunday.

Liverpool have now lost nine of their last 12 matches, with a humbling 4-1 loss to PSV in the Champions League on Wednesday piling more misery on the reigning Premier League champions.

And, having slumped to back-to-back 3-0 losses to Manchester City and Nottingham Forest prior to that, the Reds have conceded three or more goals in three straight matches for the first time since September 1992.

In the Premier League, Liverpool dropped to 12th by the end of the last matchday, 11 points behind leaders Arsenal, ahead of their trip to the London Stadium.

And their dip in form means they are now given just a 1.2% chance of retaining their title by the Opta supercomputer, with the Gunners currently the favourites at 80.4%.

While the pressure is on Slot, reports suggest the Liverpool hierarchy are planning to stick with him despite their recent run.

And asked if he had spoken to his bosses about his future in his press conference on Thursday, Slot said: “We’ve had the same conversations we’ve had since I am here. We fight on. We will try to improve.

“You try to find the answers of what is needed to win a game of football, but in the end, it is about doing what this club is about. We have to keep fighting, fight together.

“But it would also be nice if we rewarded ourselves in the moments we play well. People are focused correctly on the parts where we don’t play well.

“Every small mistake immediately leads to us conceding a goal, and this is a very bad cocktail to have.”

Meanwhile, Thomas Frank, who has also come under scrutiny for Tottenham’s recent performances, backed Slot to turn Liverpool’s fortunes.

“Arne is clearly an unbelievable coach, what he did with Feyenoord and how he stepped into Liverpool – incredible,” Frank said in his own press conference.

“He will 1,000% find a way out of that.

“I don’t know him personally, but he will stay calm, him and his coaching staff will find a solution, and they will go again.”
