Swansea plan to spend

Swansea manager Michael Laudrup will be given money to spend in the January transfer window, chairman Huw Jenkins has revealed.

Laudrup’s side have enjoyed a promising campaign since the Danish manager’s arrival at the start of the season, with the Swans currently ninth in the Premier League and due to play in the semi-finals of the Capital One Cup this month.

However, Jenkins is aware of the need to strengthen the squad if they are to maintain their current level of success.

“We’re looking to get a strong healthy squad and move forward from January,” Jenkins told reporters.

“There will be one or two players coming in just to make sure we’ve got enough bodies between now and May.

“We’ve got a lot of games coming up, a lot of competitions we’re still involved in and we’ve got to make sure we’re competitive in every game we play.”

As well as bolstering the current crop, Jenkins believes that squad players who are ‘not quite happy’ should be allowed to leave the Liberty Stadium if they desire a move.

“There are a few players not really playing regularly and nobody wants players around that are not quite happy when they’re not playing,” he said.

“I think Michael is going to speak to them over the next week or so. They will have an opportunity to give their views and see where that takes them.”
