Van der Vaart relishing goal glut

Tottenham’s Dutch star Rafael van der Vaart is thrilled by his recent goalscoring form for the Premier League club.

Van der Vaart has found the back of the net in his last three games for Harry Redknapp’s side, and the diminutive playmaker is enjoying his rich vein of form.

“Sometimes there’s going to be a game that I don’t score, but I’m in a good flow,” the former Real Madrid man told Sky Sports News.

The 28-year-old has netted against QPR, Newcastle and twice against Blackburn of late, and says his prime motivation is to entertain the Spurs supporters.

“I play for the fans. That’s the most important thing. They buy tickets to come to the stadium to see something nice,” said Van der Vaart.

“The whole team, not just me, loves to play, and loves to play with each other. We want to fight for each other.”

The Netherlands international also reserved praise for two close-season signings – on-loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor and midfielder Scott Parker.

“Adebayor’s a great player and a great lad as well,” Van der Vaart added. “He’s working really hard for the team. When he doesn’t score it’s so important, he gives passes, works, he’s quick and he’s got good technique.”

“Scott Parker at the moment is our best player because it’s amazing how he tackles and blocks the ball. It’s amazing to watch him.”

Van der Vaart will look to extend his run of goals when Spurs take on Fulham at Craven Cottage on Sunday.
