Dutch Eredivisie side Vitesse have signed Chelsea defender Patrick van Aanholt on loan for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old spent the first part of the season on loan at Wigan, where he featured in three Premier League games.
Van Aanholt returned to Stamford Bridge earlier this month and has now agreed to join Vitesse.
“We have shopped around and the preference was for a left-footed player,” Vitesse boss John van den Brom told club’s official website.
“The moment the name of Patrick came up, everyone was immediately enthusiastic.
“He is a talented young player who wants to show himself at the highest level and the advantage is that he is fit and is ready to play.”
The left-back previously enjoyed successful loan spells at Coventry City, Newcastle and Leicester City, and he believes a move to Eredivisie high-flyers would further aid his development.
The team from Arnhem have been nothing short of impressive this season and they currently occupy the 6th place in Eredivisie standings.
