According to The Times, Wolverhampton Wanderers have rejected a bid of £55million for Jorgen Strand Larsen from Newcastle. It was an offer improved on the previous one, but obviously still not enough to convince Wolves to sell. Also, it raises the number of offers for a striker Newcastle have had rejected this summer to a total of eight.
The Magpies are desperate to get a new striker in, with Alexander Isak still refusing to train with the team as he angles for a move to Liverpool. The Premier League champions are said to be waiting in the shadows with a record-breaking offer, but they’ll only make a move if Newcastle open the door. And that won’t happen, until Eddie Howe has a new striker in his ranks.
Therefore, a third bid, likely in the region of £60million, is expected to test Wolves’ resolve in the coming days.
But with the closing of the transfer window now looming near, it seems other clubs are reluctant to sell as it would leave them with almost no time to find replacements themselves.
The clock is ticking for this complicated situation to get resolved.
