Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso wants to sign Florian Wirtz from Liverpool, according to Fichajes. Alonso worked with Wirtz at Bayer Leverkusen, and the former Liverpool midfielder would love a reunion with the Germany international attacking midfielder at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer in the summer of 2025. The 22-year-old has given three assists in 15 appearances for the defending Premier League champions so far.
While Wirtz has been underwhelming for Liverpool so far, it is unlikely that the Reds would be willing to offload the 22-year-old anytime soon. Wirtz did extremely well for Bayer, scoring 57 goals and giving 65 assists in 197 appearances, and the hope is that he will step up his game for Liverpool in the coming weeks. Wirtz was part of the Liverpool team that beat Madrid 1-0 at Anfield in the League Stage of the UEFA Champions League this week.
