Atletico to bid for Nico Gaitan; Napoli lead chase for Marko Grujic

hot-transfer-newsAtletico to bid for Nico Gaitan

Cadena SER has learned that Atletico Madrid are readying a fresh assault on long-term target Nicolas Gaitan.

Los Colchoneros boss Diego Simeone believes the Argentine can be a perfect replacement for Arda Turan and he has already attempted to lure him to Vicente Calderon on several occasions.

And despite the fact that Gaitan is currently negotiating a new deal with Benfica, Atletico Madrid hope to make a breakthrough in the coming weeks.

Namely, the plan to take advantage of the Eagles’ interest in Guilherme Siqueira and at the same time negotiate a good deal for the Argentine winger.

Even though both Gaitan and Benfica are ready to part ways, the €35 million release clause has so far proved to be an obstacle to any deal.

With El Clasico rivals meeting at the Bernabeu this weekend, Atletico have a chance to close the gap behind their title rivals with a with a win over Real Betis, and they can be backed at 4/6 to emerge victorious.

Napoli lead chase for Marko Grujic

Serbian daily newspaper Sportski Zurnal has suggested that Napoli have moved to the front of the queue for Red Star hotshot Marko Grujic.

The 19-year-old midfielder has caught the eye of quite a few top sides, with Inter Milan sporting director Piero Ausilio yesterday confirming he had met with the youngster.

Chelsea and few other top clubs are believed to be keen as well, but it would appear as though Napoli are ready to make the first move.

According to Sportski Zurnal, the Azzurri are readying a €6 million offer for the highly rated youngster.

Red Star sporting director Blazo Raosavljevic has moved to confirm the heavy interest in the Serbia Under-21 international.

“A lot of clubs want Grujic. There is the talk of Napoli as well. The only thing certain is that, for now, we have received no official proposals,” Raosavljevic was quoted as saying.

The club chief also went to confirm that Grujic would not be allowed to leave before the end of August 2016 due to the fact that Red Star hope to secure their place in next year’s Champions League group stages.

Sporting Lisbon sign Schelotto

Portuguese giants Sporting Lisbon have announced on their official website that they have signed Argentine full-back Matias Ezequiel Schelotto.

The 26-year-old arrives on a free contract having been released from his deal with Inter Milan in the summer.

Schelotto put pen to paper on a deal until the end of the season with the Lions, with an option for further three years, with his release clause now standing at €45 million.

The Argentine-born footballer was a hot commodity in Italian Serie A just a few years back, when he was also handed a debut for the Italy national team.

However, the decision to join Inter Milan in January 2013 turned out to be a bad career move as he never quite managed to prove his worth at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

He did show some promise during loan spells with Parma and Chievo, and clearly did enough to earn a contract with Sporting Lisbon.
