Bitesize Prediction: Bristol City vs Rotherham – 27/04/24

Competition: Championship

Market: Bristol City win

Odds: 2/5 @ 1xBet

Looking to extend on their late Championship flurry, Bristol City will welcome Rotherham to Ashton Gate on Saturday afternoon.

Starting with the hosts, while Bristol City might have found themselves at the heart of a real Championship struggle prior to March’s international break, the Robins have come roaring back over the past six weeks. Breaking their way into the top-half of the table, Liam Manning’s men should find the mood in their camp at a recent high. Last seen snatching a 1-1 stalemate away at leading play-off contenders Norwich, they are now unbeaten in all of their previous six Championship appearances. Making a major statement earlier in the month a they stormed their way to a 5-0 romp against Blackburn, Bristol City will also be excited by their continued success at Ashton Gate. Including a stellar 1-0 win against Leicester on March 29th, the former Oxford boss has seen his squad collect 10 points from their previous four showdowns in front of their own supporters. Likewise, it should also be noted, the Robins have shipped just a single goal at Ashton Gate since way back on March 2nd.

As for the visitors, while Rotherham might have marked Steve Evans’ return to Yorkshire with a 0-0 stalemate against Birmingham last time out, the Millers have continued to break a string of unwanted records this season. With their League One return confirmed weeks ago, Saturday’s guests sit rock-bottom of the table and have put just 24 points on the board from their 44 second-tier appearances. Claiming just a single victory from any of their previous 22 matchups across all competitions, the former Gillingham boss has a major job on his hands at the New York Stadium. Opening March with respective 5-0 drumming against Coventry and Norwich, Rotherham have also gained a reputation or their glaring issues on the road. In fact, the Millers have lost all of their previous eight consecutive showdowns outside of Yorkshire – a rut that stems back to a 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough on January 20th. Given what has been a huge recent gulf in class, we are backing a home victory this weekend.
