Celtic have option to buy Guidetti; Sterling happy at Liverpool

Celtic F.C. manager Ronny Deila has confirmed the club have an option to buy John Guidetti from Manchester City at the end of the season.

Celtic F.C. manager Ronny Deila has confirmed the club have an option to buy John Guidetti from Manchester City at the end of the season.

Guidetti, 22, is currently on loan at Celtic Park, but reports have suggested the Sweden international could return to England when the transfer window re-opens in January.

The 22-year-old striker, who has bagged 10 goals in 11 Scottish Premier League appearances for Celtic this term, is reportedly wanted by several clubs.

Consequently, Deila does not want to wait until the summer to secure Guidetti’s services. Instead, he has made it clear that he will try to get a deal done in January, and rightly so.

“With every player we bring in on loan we try to have an option to buy,” Deila said.

“That’s why we know what it will cost.

“It could be harder at the end of the season. This decision has to be taken before that.

“He should stay here. He will develop and achieve big things. This is the right club for him, especially at the age he is now.”

Sterling happy at Liverpool

Liverpool F.C. winger Raheem Sterling has revealed he is ready to commit his long-term future to the club.

The England international, 19, is contracted to Anfield until the summer of 2017, but has recently attracted interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid.

Nonetheless, Sterling has insisted he is happy with life on Merseyside.

“I am happy to be here for as long as possible. Hopefully I can achieve the goals I want to achieve here at Liverpool in years to come,” Sterling said.

“I am just happy to play football at this club for many years to come. The club has spoken to my representatives and hopefully something can be done soon.”

Earlier this month, Sterling was criticized for not wanting to play for England after Roy Hodgson revealed the player told him that he was tired ahead of the Three Lions’ Euro 2016 qualifier against Estonia.

The situation was difficult for Sterling; however, he has now learned to “block it all out.”

“It was pretty difficult,” added the 19-year-old. “I tried to not really watch TV much or listen to things.

“If I saw a conversation about me on TV, I would just turn over. It was the first time I’d had to deal with anything like that. It was different but I felt I dealt with it really well. I didn’t read too much into it.

“The main thing I’ve learned is to just shut off. I was always on my phone and Instagram – things would pop up and you could not go past it without having a look. But now I’ve learned to block it all out and not read what is said.

“I just love playing football for club or country. If anything I said got taken the wrong way, I’m sorry about that, but I am always happy to play football.”

Sterling has tallied three goals and three assists in 12 English Premier League appearances this season.
