Chelsea and City battle for Godin

Premier League sides Chelsea and Manchester City are locked in the battle for Atletico Madrid defender Diego Godin, according to Marca.

After Radamel Falcao left Vicente Calderon, the Uruguayan defender has become the most sought-after player at the club, with a move to English Premier League touted.

Chelsea and Manchester City are keeping close tabs on the experienced defender and plan to run the rule over him at the upcoming Confederations Cup in Brazil.

Atletico Madrid are under no pressure to sell having cashed in on Falcao, and it would take a substantial offer to make them sell the Uruguayan defender.

Diego Godin arrived at Vicente Calderon from Villarreal three years back and quickly developed into a key player at the club.

The 27-year-old has clocked up 87 La Liga appearances for Atletico, scoring 3 goals, while he has won Europa League title and UEFA Super Cup trophy with los Colchoneros.
