Everton are ready to break their transfer record by signing Brazilian striker Jo from CSKA Moscow for £18million.
After chairman Bill Kenwright confirmed that the club could spend big money, Everton manager David Moyes went straight player’s agents to discuss terms.
Moyes thinks their squad will become more explosive with Jo’s addition, and most likely he would lead the attack with Yakubu. That would mean that Andy Johnson would get a lot less playing time, and Moyes might offload him this summer and use some of that cash to finance Jo’s deal.
Manchester City have been chasing Jo for months, but the internal problems City have had with manager and owner, have postponed any deal for the striker.
Jo, 21, moved to CSKA Moscow during the 2006/07 season and scored 14 goals in his first 18 appearances for the Russian club.
