Fenerbahce to bid for Stuttgart captain

Turkish newspaper Sabah is reporting that Fenerbahce are readying summer bid for Stuttgart defender Serdar Tasci.

After their bitter rivals Galatasaray made several high-profile signings in January, Fener chiefs are aware that heavy summer recruitment is the only way for the team to stay competitive.

According to Sabah, Stuttgart captain Serdar Tasci could be the first high-profile signing to arrive at Sukru Saracoglu in the summer.

The German player of Turkish descent could be interested in moving to Turkish Super Lig, especially given that his contract is due to expire in June 2014.

He has already informed club chiefs that he won’t be signing a new deal at Mercedes-Benz Arena, meaning there is every chance he will be sold in the summer, even if the Swabians are not willing to admit such a scenario is possible.

The 25-year-old has spent his entire career at Stuttgart, making 207 Bundesliga appearances and scoring 12 goals.
