(GSM) – Borussia Dortmund coach Jürgen Klopp has been fined €10,000 by the German Football Federation (DFB) after an aggressive argument with an official during a Bundesliga match.

The 43-year-old had an angry clash with fourth official Stefan Trautmann after a decision by the referee went against Klopp’s side during Dortmund’s 2-0 win over Hamburger SV last Friday.

Following Television picture evidence, which showed Klopp bellowing at Trautmann, a DFB disciplinary committee decided to fine rather than ban Klopp after he apologised to Trautmann immediately after the match.

The German coach then later admitted on television he was ‘an idiot’ to argue with the official.

“I’m shocked at myself, it wasn’t right,” said Klopp last Friday.

Klopp will now pay €5,000 to both the Franz Beckenbuaer Foundation and a charity in Dortmund.

Dortmund, who have a seven-point lead at the top of the Bundesliga, face fourth-placed Freiburg on Saturday in the German league.
